Africa Programme on Water and Sanitation is a pioneering work that works with local communities and authorities to develop new water resources, ensure clean water and improved sanitation, and implement water conservation techniques.

Specific target

• to reached 15 million people with safe water annually in rural and urban settlements 
• to reached 10 million people with sanitation annually in rural and urban settlements
• develop simple hand-wash system to reduce the incidence of diarrhoea by up to 45%
• to integrate provision of water, sanitation and hygiene to reduces the number of deaths caused by diarrhoeal diseases by an average of 60%
• to integrate African traditional structures in water and sanitation programme
