World Cancer Day 4 February 2012

What we will be doing:

  • Research - Improving our understanding of the cause and impact of cancers in the African community
  • Screening – include breast and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test and/or a digital rectal exam (DRE). A digital rectal exam is a quick and only mildly uncomfortable exam of your prostate.
  • Making more people aware - Delivering talks and information via community champions
  • Educating health professionals and sharing good practice - Promoting delivery of appropriate information, care and services
  • Involving people with cancers - Our network provides regular input to influence our work
  • Making treatment, medication and care available and accessible to all at the point of need
