World Cancer Day
World Cancer Day is marked on February 4 to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. It is led by the International Union Against Cancer (UICC), a global consortium of more than 350 cancer-fighting organizations in over 100 countries. World Cancer Day targets the public through global communications marking, and encourages policy makers and UICC member organizations to make cancer a political priority. The International Union Against Cancer (UICC) initiated the World Cancer Campaign in 2005 in response to the Charter of Paris of 2000. The Charter of Paris chose 4th February as World Cancer Day. Since 2006, UICC has coordinated World Cancer Day activities, supported by members, partners and other international bodies. The campaign emphasizes that 40% of cancers can be prevented through these healthy behaviours:
2011 theme is teach children and teenagers to avoid UV exposure by being "sun smart" We are planning a series of events in Norwich, UK, Africa and the Diaspora. Africa Health Organisation (AHO)
joins the world to commemorate World Kidney Day on 10 March 2011 at around
Norwich in the East of England. We will be making people aware of kidney disease
and the risk factors such as high blood pressure.
1 January, 2010 Africa Health Organisation (AHO) celebrates its 1st Anniversary today in style with the African Youth leading on the activities and showing off their raw talent. AHO also showcase its work during the year in which 4 projects were set up. 23 December, 2009 Africa Health Organisation (AHO) launches the fundraising for an African Community Centre in Norwich. The launch was attended by over 200 people from all walks of life. The African Community Centre in Norwich is a multi-use health and community centre which will be piloted in Norwich and tested in Africa and the Diaspora.
