Africa Driving Lessons Fund

Africa Health Organisation’s Driving Lessons Fund provides grants for driving lessons package to disadvantaged members of the community who are eager to learn to drive and become independent but they are prevented from doing so by costs and do not have income. When applying you will be assessed to ensure that only those most in need do get the help and support..

Who can apply?

Applications are on first come first serve basis although preference will be given to Carers, disabled people, young people, NEETs, single parents, teen parents, those with chronic medical conditions and from Gateway Protection Programme living in Norwich. All people are welcome to apply regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, etc, provided they qualify as in need.

Driving Lessons Package

The driving lessons package is made up of:

1)    Payment for registration for learners license currently at £50 (2010)

2)    Payment of the theory and practical test fees

3)    Payment of 10 driving lessons worth £250

4)    Payment of the training books and DVD/CD (if you live 15 miles from Norwich).

How much can I apply?

The maximum you can apply is £300, but the average grant is £200. When applying, please consider where you will need cash and support in the form of training, manuals, etc. 

Our Support

We will provide you with the following support:

1)    Theory training: We have 10 state-of-the-art computers with 2011 theory practice tests

2)    Training Manuals: Books for Theory test, Highway Code, Hazard perception and DVD/CD

3)    Theory Tutors: You will be allocated a qualified theory tutor to prepare you for test.

4)    Tester course: You will test driving with a qualified experienced driver (not practical lessons).

How can I apply?

Download and complete the application form and include a short budget of how you will use the money and post to Driving Lessons Fund, 7 Rigby's Court, St Giles Street, Norwich, NR2 1NT. Download the Application Form.

How will you pay me?

We will pay you by cheque, however, if this is not convenient, we will send you bank detail form for BACS payment. You must fill the form and send back to us.
