About Africa Health Organisation
Africa Health Organisation (AHO) is an Afro Diasporic international health
organisation whose aim is to revolutionise health and social care that is fit for
the needs of African people.
The Aims of Africa Health Organisation (AHO) are:
Mission The mission of AHO is to protect and promote the health of all African people. AHO will achieve its mission by developing and implementing robust infrastructure, curative, preventive and intervention strategies. Vision Our Vision is a future where health inequalities are addressed and all African people are treated with dignity and respect.
The Goals of Africa Health Organisation (AHO) are:
Objectives a) To relieve sickness and hardships of all African people, in particular but not exclusively by promoting participation in health & social care. b) To protect and promote the health of all African people, in particular but not exclusively, by harmonising preventive and curative methods in public health and medical care. c) To advance the education of the public in the field of health and social care, including commissioning and conducting research and disseminating the useful results thereof. Why Africa Health Organisation (AHO) Africa Health Organisation was founded by Graciano Masauso and established in Norwich England in response to the growing need to do something about health of African people in Africa and the Diaspora. AHO uses a holistic approach to health and social care. History of Africa Health Organisation (AHO) In 2008, Graciano Masauso envisioned an organisation that would tackle the health issues in Africa and the Diaspora at strategic and grassroots level. Though the idea for this organisation came in 2008, the initial groundwork began in 1999 after Graciano’s kidney transplant in Johannesburg. Current situation Despite advancement in medicine in recent years, Africa still lags behind. Most of the infrastructure is fragile. HIV/AIDS, malaria and TB are causing untold suffering, but other diseases have been neglected. Africa suffers massive brain drain. Health spending is extremely low, just an average of 1.8% of GDP in 2007 compared to 10% in OECD countries. Governance Africa Health Organisation (AHO) is governed by a Board of Trustees and Directors who are in charge of governance issues. Each African region is represented on the board as well as Diasporic regions.
